Professor Yunfeng Zhao, PhD
Professor of Pharmacology, Toxicology & Neuroscience LSU Health Shreveport
Professor Zhao studies cancer metabolism, tumor development and the molecular pathways that influence how cancer cells grow and adapt.His current research examines the role of ADCK1 in liver cancer, as well as how microgravity and radiation may contribute to skin-cell transformation.
Dr. Veronica Gomez-Godinez
Associate Project Scientist Institute of Engineering in Medicine, UC San Diego Chief Scientist, OPALS
Dr. Gomez-Godinez is a cellular biophotonics researcher who uses laser-based methods to study individual cells and structures within them.Her research includes DNA damage, cellular injury, calcium signaling and neuronal degeneration. Through OPALS, she also guides young researchers in developing, investigating and communicating scientific questions.
